Read together. On the paragraph that moved you.

BookGroup is the reading group and the book in the same place. You join, open the digital edition, highlight the line, and talk in the text. If you want the object, the Emporium. Joining is free.

Reading alone fits in a pocket. It does not always fit the sentence.

The device delivers millions of titles and returns silence. You underline a line and nothing happens. The chat club sits far from the text. BookGroup exists for when the sentence asks for company — on the paragraph, not after the book.

The reader account has no subscription fee. Free groups, the digital book, notes on the line. Some groups charge their own access: that belongs to that group, not to the platform.

Why reading together changes the book

The reading stays yours. What changes is having people at the exact point in the text.

Conversation happens while you read

In many places, talking about the book comes after — a review, a rating, a shelf. Here the highlight is on the sentence. Discussion is born on the line that moved you.

The conversation doesn't live outside the book

WhatsApp and forums sit beside the book. On BookGroup the group is the place of reading. A subgroup grows from the paragraph when the talk needs a smaller circle.

Digital and print in the same world

You read in the browser or the app. When the title also exists on paper, the page points to the Emporium. Two paths, the same work.

What you find for reading

All of it is there from the first day of your account.

Groups and subgroups

Read with other people in the work’s group. When the conversation needs intimacy, a subgroup grows from the passage.

Notes on the paragraph

Highlight and write at the exact point in the text. Discussion stays anchored to the sentence, not a generic forum about the book.

Digital book

Open the book in the browser or the app, with a table of contents, progress saved in the group, and the text in pages.

Print at the Emporium

When the title also exists in print, the page points to the Emporium. The same world, the object on the shelf.

How reading happens

Four places you'll use every week.

Reader

Chapters, contents, progress, and reading appearance. Conversation lives on the paragraph.

Group discussion

Comments on the passage, threads, and the path from a highlight to a subgroup.

Public library

On this site you see titles, synopses, and groups before joining. It is BookGroup’s open catalog.

Emporium

The print bookstore. Order and delivery — separate from digital reading, tied to the same title.

From the invite to the line you mark

Four steps to the group you keep coming back to.

The silence of reading stays yours. Company arrives when a sentence asks to be said out loud.

Enter

On a computer and iPhone, BookGroup opens in the browser. On Android, the Google Play Store app.

Find the work

Public library, search in the app, an invite from someone who already reads. The page shows groups and, when there is one, the Emporium.

Read in the group

Open the digital book. Highlight the line. Conversation stays on the sentence. Come back the next day: the group continues.

Go further, if you want

A subgroup when the talk tightens. Print at the Emporium. Other languages, other books, the same world.

How to start reading

No password. On the device you already use.

Enter with your email

On a computer and iPhone, open BookGroup in the browser. On Android, install the app from the Google Play Store.

Find a book

Use the public library or search in the app. See the page, the groups, and, when there is one, the path to the Emporium.

Join the group

Some groups are open. Others ask for a request or an invite. There are paid groups — the price belongs to that group, not the platform.

Read and write in the text

Open the digital book, highlight the line, and leave the conversation on the paragraph. Come back the next day: the group continues.

Online book club, reading group, and shared reading

If you are looking for an online book club or a reading group to call your own, BookGroup puts the two together: the digital book and the conversation live in the same place, and you can join open groups for free. See, step by step, how to join a group, annotate the paragraph, and avoid spoilers.

Questions from people who read

Do I need to pay to read?

No. Creating an account, joining free groups, reading the digital catalog, and discussing the text is free. Some groups charge their own access — that appears on the group page, separate from plans for people who publish.

What is a group and what is a subgroup?

The group is the community around the reading — often around a book. A subgroup is born when a conversation needs a smaller circle, often from a passage. Both exist in the same BookGroup.

How does it work on a phone?

On iPhone, reading opens in Safari. On Android there is no mobile web app: BookGroup is the Google Play Store application. This site, the Emporium, and the blog open on any device.

Can I get the print book?

When the title is at the Emporium, the public page points to the print volume. Digital reading and the print purchase are different paths of the same book.

Which languages can I read in?

BookGroup exists in English, Portuguese, and Spanish. Books and groups live in the language they were published in, without mixing conversations from another language.

The next sentence may not be yours alone.
