Your work deserves readers who stay.

Not a shelf where the file disappears. A reading group around your text, with conversation on the paragraph. You publish, you invite, and the book continues after the last page.

You already know the silence after the upload.

Publishing in a store delivers the file and returns distance. Publishing on a network delivers attention and hides the text. The third path is this: the digital book in the group, the note on the line, the reader who comes back the next day.

Sign-up takes just a few minutes: you confirm your date of birth and country, accept the terms of use, and right after that you send us the file for your book — Word, ideally, or PDF. We take care of the rest: we convert it to EPUB, the format that brings reading to life here. Once approved, your book gets a group of its own, with a link only you have to share. None of this costs anything, today and for as long as your community stays within the free tier.

Why readers stay

The difference isn't the file format. It's what happens after someone opens your book.

The reader does not vanish after the download

In a store, the sale ends the relationship. Here the book lives in the group. People highlight the paragraph and stay in the conversation — work after work.

Conversation stays in the text

Not a generic forum or a parallel chat. The highlight is on the sentence. When the talk needs a smaller circle, a subgroup grows from the passage.

You start without a toll

There is a path for the first book with no subscription fee. Paid plans arrive when the catalog and the community need more groups, storage, and tools.

What your work gains here

What you have in hand the moment your book goes live.

A group around the text

The community is not a loose profile. It forms in the work’s group, with readers who are in the same book you published.

Publishing without a print shop’s paperwork

Send the manuscript in the format you already have. The platform generates EPUB 3 through an editorial approval flow. You do not need to be a typesetter to start.

The book continues after the last page

A note on the paragraph turns reading into a meeting. Who finishes the chapter still has the group — and the next work finds people who already read you.

An invite that arrives with your name

The referral link brings the reader to BookGroup through your work. People enter through the writer’s invite — not a generic feed.

What you use to publish

Four tools, from the file to the reader.

Publishing Center

Send the Word file for your book, or the PDF if that is what you have. The platform generates the EPUB and organizes the chapters automatically.

The work’s group

Set up the reading group, invite, use subgroups when the conversation needs intimacy. The book and the community occupy the same place.

Referral link

Share the invite with people who already trust you. The reader reaches the group through your link — the community’s front door.

Public page and Emporium

The work’s page on this site presents the book before joining the group. On paid plans, the public page in the app. If there is a print volume, the Emporium sells the object.

From manuscript to the reader who returns

From the first page you upload to the reader waiting for the next one.

You don't hand over a file and disappear. You stay at the center of the group your book brought together.

Publish the text

The manuscript enters BookGroup — Word or PDF. We generate the EPUB. The work exists to be read, not only listed.

The group forms

Readers join the work’s group. Conversation starts on the paragraph, not in a box beside the book.

Reading becomes a meeting

Highlights, comments, and subgroups. People who read, stay. The next publication finds people who already know your voice.

Reach starts from the group

Invite, public page, and, on paid plans, BookGroup Ads in other groups. Promotion starts where reading already happens.

How to start publishing

The same path that already works for independent authors: an email, a link, the work in the group.

Give your name and email

That is enough to request publisher access.

Get the link in your inbox

A unique link arrives in moments. It opens the platform with no password.

Use the link, not a code

The link opens BookGroup and unlocks the publisher profile. Do not use the code login screen — that invalidates the invite.

Send the manuscript and build the group

Send the Word (or PDF) file for your book. Set up the work's group and watch reading begin.

Word or PDF — we handle the conversion

If you have the file in Word, that is the best path: the text comes through clean and turns into EPUB with few adjustments. Only have it in PDF? That works too — PDF is already a publishable format — but the formatting may come out a little different from the original file, because PDF does not keep the text's structure the same way Word does.

And why do we always convert to EPUB? Because it is the format that brings the book to life here: it is where the reader highlights a sentence and comments right there, in the middle of the paragraph — the conversation begins in that exact passage of your work. A PDF can be read, but it does not open that conversation inside the text.

Publishing here is not just uploading a file

Your group is born empty, with only your book

it exists because your work exists: it is the only book attached to it. It is not a generic space for readers across the platform — it is the group of people reading your work, and only your work. Every highlight, comment, and conversation in that group's feed is about your book.

Reading happens only in here

the book is read straight from BookGroup's reader. It cannot be downloaded or read anywhere else. That is how we protect your work against piracy, and keep the conversation inside the right group.

You get an exclusive link to that group

every group has its own link, tied to your name. Whoever joins through your link becomes linked to you — not just as a reader of this book, but as someone you brought to BookGroup.

Publishing, and keeping the book free, costs nothing

no publishing fee, no subscription to keep your book live and freely accessible.

The work is yours. It always was, it always will be.

BookGroup owns the platform, the reading group, and the tools your book is read, highlighted, and discussed with. The copyright to the work stays yours, all the time.

Publishing here does not sign anything away, and there is no exclusivity: you can publish the same book anywhere else — another store, a publisher, another platform — at the same time, without asking our permission. Our intent is to open one more path to the reader — never to close the ones you already have.

Sell your book — and, soon, earn from who it brings in

1. Selling your digital book

You decide if — and when — to charge for entry into your book's group. Whoever pays, pays the cover price you set, reads the book, and joins the conversation in that group. That is how the sale happens: there is no separate store, it is joining the group itself.

Automatic payouts apply only to Stripe Connect accounts in Brazil. In all other countries, payouts are manual and made in batches after you register your payout details at /creator/payouts — with a minimum amount per currency; fees and exchange rates are the author's responsibility. Readers pay through Stripe (BRL, USD, or EUR) and, in Brazil, also via Pix through Asaas.

You set the cover price. The platform's commission on the digital book follows the rule that applies to your case — there is a global default, which may vary by author, publisher, group or catalog. The net amount can still change depending on the payment method the buyer chooses and tax matters in your territory. Payout timing follows each payment provider's own policy. The share the platform retains covers taxes and fees at every step of the sale and helps fund the promotion of books: promotion happens through editorial selection and platform campaigns, with no promise of automatic exposure for every publication.

A note on taxes: Ajunta pra Ler is the one who collects the taxes on the service operation in Brazil, out of the share the platform retains — never out of your agreed amount. That is why the balance shown inside your Asaas or Stripe account may look different from what was agreed: those providers still deduct their own fees before the final amount reaches you.

2. Commission for who you bring in (coming soon)

Coming soon: income from readers who join through your group's link is not active yet — the terms are under review. When it is released, it will be announced here with the full rules.

Publishing free first is a strategy — not an obligation

You do not have to publish for free before charging. Many authors start that way because it works well to build visibility — but it is a tool for exposure, not a condition: if you would rather charge from the first book, the path is the same.

Your group grows, your size limit grows with it

Every author starts on the free path. How large a manuscript you can publish for free depends on how many active readers are already in your work's group — the bigger your community, the bigger the limit that unlocks automatically, with nothing to ask for.

These numbers can change, according to Ajunta pra Ler's policies for BookGroup. Any change will be announced in advance, and applies only to new publications from that point on — what you have already published stays under the conditions it was published with. The exception: if a change also needs to bring existing publications in line with the new conditions, that will be handled case by case and always communicated beforehand.

Questions from people who write

Do I need to pay to publish the first book?

No. There is a path for the first book with no subscription fee. Paid plans exist for people who need more groups, storage, and community tools. Current details are on the plans page.

What format should I send?

Word, ideally — it comes through cleaner. PDF also works, but the formatting may differ from the original file. Either way, we convert it to EPUB, the format used inside BookGroup, which lets readers highlight and comment directly in the text.

How soon is publisher access unlocked?

The link arrives in your email in moments. The team reviews sign-ups to protect the community. In practice most authors get in within a few hours, and within 24 hours.

Can I publish in any language?

BookGroup exists in English, Portuguese, and Spanish. Books and groups live in the language they were published in, without mixing conversations from another language.

How are my rights handled?

The rights to the work are yours — they always were, and always will be. BookGroup owns the platform and the reading tools, not your work. There is no exclusivity: you can publish the same book anywhere else, at the same time. In here, reading happens only on the platform — no downloads — with anti-copy protection (watermark and temporary links), which protects against piracy.

Is my book's group just about it, or a general group of readers?

It is only about your book. Every group has exactly one book attached to it, and starts empty: it exists because your work exists. Every comment and conversation there is about your book, and nothing else.

How do I get paid if I decide to charge for my book?

Automatic payouts apply only to Stripe Connect accounts in Brazil. In other countries, payouts are manual and made in batches after you register your payout details at /creator/payouts, with a minimum amount per currency; fees and exchange rates are the author's responsibility. Readers pay through Stripe (BRL, USD, or EUR) and, in Brazil, also via Pix through Asaas. The platform's commission follows the rule that applies to your case, and taxes on the operation in Brazil come out of the share the platform retains, never out of your agreed amount.

Why does the amount in my Asaas or Stripe account look different from what was agreed?

Because those payment providers still deduct their own fees (processing, withdrawal) before the final amount reaches you. What counts, after everything, is the net amount agreed with you — according to the commission rule that applies to your case.

What is the rest of the sale worth used for?

The share retained by the platform covers taxes and fees at every step of the operation and helps fund the promotion of books. Promotion happens through editorial selection and platform campaigns — it is not automatic for every publication, and there is no promise of appearing on Google or social media.

Do I need to publish for free before I charge?

No, it is a choice, not a rule. Publishing free first is a common strategy to gain visibility before charging for your next books — but you can charge from the very first one, if you prefer.

The manuscript already exists. The group does not.

Publish on BookGroup and find readers who stay in the text — not only on the shelf.
