Subscription, Checkout, and Monetization on BookGroup
What do I see on the Subscription screen if I have the free plan on BookGroup?
The screen shows "Free Plan" with the description "Upgrade to unlock all features", followed by the list of available Premium plans, with monthly price and each one's features. You can choose your billing currency between Real, Dollar, and Euro, regardless of the language you use on BookGroup — prices show up in the currency you pick.
What do I see on the Subscription screen if I'm already Premium on BookGroup?
You see the name of your current plan, the monthly price, an "Active" badge, the billing provider, and your next charge date. If your subscription was just created and hasn't synced yet, BookGroup shows "Subscription syncing. Reload shortly or contact support." You can also switch to another Premium plan (with a summary of the estimated amount on your next invoice before confirming) or add/remove extra bundles to your subscription.
How do I upgrade to Premium on BookGroup?
On the Subscription screen, tap "Upgrade Now" on the plan you want. This takes you to a dedicated checkout screen, which clearly explains that it's a recurring monthly subscription, the exact monthly amount, and that you can cancel anytime with no penalty. After confirming, you're taken to Stripe's secure payment page to enter your card — BookGroup doesn't store your card details.
Why can I only subscribe to Premium using a computer (desktop)?
Premium plans and subscriptions can only be purchased through a desktop browser — if you try from the subscription screen on a phone or tablet, BookGroup shows the notice "Subscription available on desktop" and suggests accessing from a computer, with a link to learn more on the institutional site. This doesn't affect buying books or joining specific groups, which remain available on the same device.
Can I buy access to a paid group from my phone on BookGroup?
Yes, this type of purchase doesn't have the same restriction as a Premium subscription. The only exception: if you're on a phone or tablet outside the installed app (Android TWA), BookGroup asks you to install the app from the Play Store or use a computer to complete the purchase.
What happens when I pay to join a specific group on BookGroup?
After filling in your details and confirming, you're taken to payment (through Google Play if you're in the Android app, or through Stripe in a desktop browser). Once payment is complete, BookGroup shows "Payment confirmed!" and waits for confirmation that your group access has been granted on the server before taking you there — this is usually quick, but if it takes longer than two minutes, BookGroup takes you to the group anyway, and access should show up shortly after.
Is BookGroup Premium billed every month? How do I cancel?
Yes, it's a recurring monthly charge, billed automatically until you cancel — this is stated clearly before you confirm the subscription. To cancel, go to the Subscription screen and tap "Cancel subscription"; BookGroup asks for confirmation, letting you know you keep access until the end of the period already paid for, when applicable.
What currency are BookGroup's prices shown in, and who processes the payment?
You can choose between Real (BRL), Dollar (USD), and Euro (EUR) as your billing currency, regardless of the interface language. BookGroup itself states that payment is processed by Stripe — your card details aren't stored by BookGroup.
Is there a "Billing" screen to manage my earnings on BookGroup?
There's a screen called "Monetization", but it isn't functional yet — it only shows the notice "Soon you'll be able to monetize your content and manage your revenue directly through the platform." Today, actual revenue and commission tracking that already works lives on the "My Earnings" screen, covered in the Publishing Center area.
